CEYC has released a diversity and inclusivity statement in light of recent events
In light of recent events, the City of Edmonton Youth Council has released the following statement:
Edmonton is a city which is made strong by its diversity. Being home to over 100,000 youth from a variety of ethnicities, faiths and places of origin, Edmonton is a prime example of pluralism in action. In light of recent events, the City of Edmonton Youth Council affirms its commitment to a diverse and inclusive city. All youth, regardless of ability, faith, race and gender are welcome in the Youth Council and in the City of Edmonton.
Multiculturalism and inclusion are fundamental Canadian values. It was our commitment to learning about one another and to working together that allowed us to develop into who we are today. When those values are challenged, we must come together and stand up for what we believe is right. It is our hope that all Edmontonians will stand united with us in defending what makes our community a place where everyone can belong.
