Medically Supervised Injection Services
Throughout 2016, CEYC has met with various content experts to gain perspective and accurate information regarding medically supervised injection services. After our members passed a motion to publicly support the implementation of these services in Edmonton, CEYC sent a memo to City Council to inform them of the youth perspective on this matter.
We have identified the following reasons for bringing forward this issue to City Council:
- to reduce significant health issues and medical costs related to unsafe injection.
- to reduce youth substance overdose mortality and focus on prevention.
- to ensure the wellbeing of youth and increase community belonging.
