Ticket to Ride (2016 Edition)

Overview

Event date: March 16, 2016 at Latitude 53

Ticket to Ride is a collaborative fundraiser event formed by Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS), EndPoverty Edmonton, and hosted by the City of Edmonton Youth Council (CEYC), seeking to bring accessible transportation to Edmontonian youth at risk, and prove that as a community Edmonton is capable of aiding our youth in need.

As a primary youth voice in the EndPoverty Edmonton implementation roadmap being presented in late May of 2016, this event will be an important moment in the months leading towards the eventual council decision to accept or reject this strategy, and strong community involvement in Ticket to Ride will send a clear statement about the desire of Edmontonians for more accessible social support available to those in poverty.

UPDATE

Thank you very much to everyone who came out to our event Ticket To Ride tonight! We are thrilled to announce we raised $3907 which equals 1628 bus tickets for vulnerable young Edmontonians!

All proceeds will be used directly for the purchase of transportation passes to be distributed through YESS. This funding will enable youth at risk to to reliably get to work, housing, and community services, which empowers them to achieve their goals early in life.

Special thank you to our City Planning and Infrastructure committee for organizing this fundraiser. As well as Latitude 53 for the venue and Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel for donating the delicious food!
