City Hall Solar

CEYC is doing a policy recommendation project to investigate the feasibility of a solar panel array at Edmonton City Hall. The Youth Council has been working with various members of City Administration to explore the implementation of a solar panel array and citywide solar electricity generation dashboard at Edmonton City Hall. We will be presenting our findings to Community Services Committee of City Council at 9:00 AM on April 25th. The last piece in our puzzle was community feedback. We looked for informal feedback from Edmontonians and have created a small video below:

We hope you are able to read our report online, here is the link to the Agenda and to live stream the meeting if you are unable to attend. We hope you can join us and share your voice on social media #PutSolarOnIt

Community Services Committee approved our recommendation on April 25th. The next steps CEYC have been tasked with are putting together a complete business case (showing the economic outcomes as well as social value outcomes) of the proposal alongside Office of Energy Management and City of Edmonton. This would include a full technical and structural assessment and recommended financial models. It would be presented to City Council for approval.
