YEG Youth Forum

Are you interested in civic engagement? Do you want to learn more about issues that affect youth in our city?  Would you like the opportunity to have your voice heard by City staff and Council?  Well now that we’ve got your attention, we are excited to let you know about our upcoming YEG Youth Forum!

On Friday March 28, 2014 City Hall will be opening its doors to the youth of Edmonton. Lucky participants will spend a day discussing and learning about a whole range of topics from Women in Politics to Heritage Planning. In the morning, we will have expert City staff on site to help co-facilitate discussion sessions with you and our City of Edmonton Youth Council members. Next, lunch provides you with an opportunity to Meet and Greet with Councilors and to listen to a panel of Executive Assistants to Council. After lunch, we’ll jump into more skill based discussion sessions where we’ll delve deeper into areas like the Winter City Strategy and Downtown Revitalization.

To conclude the day, you will be able to take part in an event that we like to call ‘Mock Council’. You, the youth of Edmonton, will be able to play a variety of roles inside Council Chambers, debating a hot topic that involves multiple perspectives and areas of interest.

This is going to be a fun and engaging event and we are so excited to have you involved. If you have any questions or want to chat we’re on twitter @EdmYouthCouncil, you can write on our Facebook wall or even send us an email at Stay tuned for more information about the application process, check out the schedule that is posted below, and make sure you save-the-date March 28 for the YEG Youth Forum! Make sure you apply early to guarantee that you don’t miss out on this opportunity.
